Today many people say, touching Quran without Wodu is prohibited and also those ladies who are in their mensus period must refrain from reading Quran.
Both these stand does not have any basis.
The main reason for these stand to be ignored is that, actual Quran, first of all, is not of a materialistic form. Allah did not provide a materialistic format of Quran to rasool (sal). All what Allah did, is He put Quranic verses onto the mind of the prophet and those words were called Quran !
Later, it was for our convenience, that we had made those verses into a printed book format.
Even if the book format of Quran does not exist in this world, Quran will still exist !!! – in the minds of millions of people.
Rather, these are clear verses. They are in the minds of the knowledgeable. Except the unjust nobody will deny our verses. (29:49)
Thus, the basic format of Quran is the voice and is stored in the hearts of Rasool, Sahabas and even millions today.
When the actual Quran is voice format, question on whether it can be touched or not, goes meaningless since voice cannot be touched.
It is for our convenience, that we had made a printed book format which means this book with ordinary papers, carries that Quranic message and hence we call this book itself as Quran.
So, just because, the book carries the Quranic message, we must not touch this Book without Wodu, then today, even smart Phones and I-Pads have the same Quranic message !!
So, will these people still say, smartPhones must not be touched too, in the same manner how they say about the book ?
Reply to this will clearly be evident that, these are illogical statements.
Moreover, Prophet Rasool (sal) himself had permitted touching of written format of Quran without Wodu too.
In one of the letter conversations to the ruler of Rome, Herculus, Prophet (sal) invited him towards Islam, by stating Bismillah in his letter, and then by mentioning the Quranic verse 3:64 completely on it.
This Hathees is recorded in Saheeh Buhari 2941
Herculus was a Non-muslim and he will not be in Wudu which Prophet very well knows . Still, he sends a written format of quranic verses to him, for him to touch and read !!
So, it is very clear that touching of Quran, nor reading while in Mensus, is not at all prohibited in islam !
